An olive oil label contains essential information to help make informed choices. Most important is the class designation — "Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva" is the highest quality.
The origin designation shows where the olives come from. "100% Italiano" means all olives are of Italian origin. Single estate (monocultivar) oils are especially valuable.
The harvest date is important — olive oil is best within the first 12-18 months. The "best before" date doesn't tell the whole story; harvest time is much more informative.
